Montour Alum Krug Earns Spot on Olympic Diving Team

The former Montour diver moves onto the Olympic Trials finals.

A  alumna has earned herself a spot on the U.S. Olympic diving team. 

26-year-old Cassidy Krug, a 2003 graduate of Montour High School, placed first during the women's 3-meter springboard title diving finals June 23 in Washington, according to the Associated Press.

Krug finished three rounds in the finals with 1,094.85 points, the AP reported. This was her third time competing in the Olympic Trials.

Krug, an 11-time national champion, left diving four years ago after placing eighth in the 2008 trials. She returned in 2010, winning four national springboard titles since her return to the sport, reports USA Today.

Krug is a graduate of Stanford University. Both of her parents are Pittsburgh-area diving coaches, according to ESPN.
