RMU Trustee Honored for Commitment to Higher Education

Patricia Rooney, who is married to Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney, has served on RMU's Board of Trustees for 28 years.

A member of the Board of Trustees will be honored tomorrow in Harrisburg for her longtime work in higher education. 

Patricia R. Rooney, who is the wife of Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney, will receive the Robert P. Casey Medal for Commitment to Independent Higher Education at the annual conference for the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania.

RMU President Gregory Dell'Omo nominated her for the award.

Rooney, of the North Side, has served on RMU's Board of Trustees for 28 years and formerly worked as an adjunct professor in the Communication Skills program at RMU. In 2004, she created the university's Rooney International Visiting Scholars Program, which hosts a variety of guest speakers at the university.
