PA Primary 2013: Candidates for Moon Area School Board

Current Moon school board president Sandra McCurdy has not filed for re-election, according to the Allegheny County Division of Elections.

Five candidates have filed to run for seats on the Moon Area School Board in the May 2013 primary. 

Candidates Jeff Bussard, James Donahue, Michael Hauser, Scott LaRue and Jerry Testa have filed as candidates in the primary, according to the Allegheny County Division of Elections

Each of the candidates has cross-filed has filed as both a Democrat and Republican, and will appear on both sides of the ballot.

Hauser retired from his position as Moon Area High School principal in 2011, after 18 years with the district. Bussard and Testa both hold current seats on the school board. Former board member Donahue lost his re-election campaign for the school board in the 2011 primary. LaRue serves on the Moon Municipal Authority board. 

Current school board president Sandra McCurdy has not filed to run in the primary, nor has board member Ron Steele. McCurdy could not be reached for comment.

Four seats are up for re-election this year on the school board. The 2013 Pennsylvania primary will be held on May 21.
