Moon School District Garners Science Grant

The grant will be used to purchase science equipment for middle schoolers.

The Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh has awarded the  a $3,000 grant.

The funding will be used to purchase science equipment for the district's fifth-graders, who in the fall will from the district's elementary to middle school building.

The group also awarded the middle school a $600 grant to purchase supplies.

According to a statement from the district:

"Although we currently use many labs in fifth grade, next year we will actually have real classrooms set up for labs," said fifth-grade teacher Elaine Mitchell. "Therefore we have implemented more lab sessions into our curriculum."

The school district will conduct an informational meeting for parents April 25 about curriculum changes for middle school students next fall. Check back with Patch for coverage.

I'm having trouble deciphering/accessing complete posts above. I have not been able to follow theRead More Boards meetings since relocating a year ago to TN. The fact that it took them til 3 am to ok WalMart's plans for the space, makes me think it was contentious, as it should have been. Many of us with experience of WalMart and the existing problems with traffic in the area remain appalled to hear WalMart's moving ahead.
