Update: Milanovich Contract Includes $160K Base Pay

Terms of the contract remain unchanged from the district's previous agreement with the superintendent.

Moon Area Superintendent Donna Milanovich will receive a $160,624 base salary under the terms of her newly renewed contract.

The base pay includes pay raises Milanovich received over the course of her previous contract.

Milanovich, whose employment with the school district was renewed Nov. 14 by the Moon Area School Board in a 9 to 3 , received a $136,000 base salary under the terms of her previous contract in addition to various performance-based pay raises.

Much of the terms and conditions in Milanovich’s 2007 and 2012 contracts remain the same. The superintendent will receive the yearly $5,000 performance bonus she received under her previous contract if the district meets adequate progress standards as detailed in the Federal No Child Left Behind Act.

The contract includes a rubric for school board evaluations of the superintendent for other performance-based salary increases. The rubric gauges Milanovich’s performance in areas ranging from student progress to organizational leadership and community relations.

The 2007 and 2012 contracts stipulate that Milanovich's performance reviews are considered confidential and not available for public viewing.

The contract provides for Milanovich to be covered under the district’s medical, dental and vision insurers, paying a monthly contribution toward the cost of each premium equal to the monthly contribution cost that members of the Moon Area Education Association paid plus $100, according to the document.

The district earlier this year reached a five-year with its teachers union, which called for a pay freeze in the first year of the contract and changes to union members' health care plans. Click to view the agreement. The district this year also signed a new contract with its support staff union.

The district will again supply Milanovich with a laptop computer for personal and professional use, an “iPhone-type cellular device” and “$150 per month to cover the cost of cellular service ...” The district provided Milanovich with a "Blackberry-type device" under the terms of her 2007 contract.

Milanovich receives 20 days of paid vacation under the contract, and the district has agreed to pay membership fees for as many as two professional organizations and provide travel insurance and reimbursement for professional functions.

Clarification: Milanovich's base salary includes pay raises she received during her first five years with the district. The superintendent is eligible for performance-based pay increases at the discretion of the Moon Area School Board.
