Supervisors Approve 2012 Budget, Hear Update on Autozone Project

Engineer briefs board on changes to the proposed plan for a new auto parts retailer on University Boulevard.

Moon Township Engineer Malcolm Petroccia last night said developers from Autozone have submitted a revised plan for a proposed auto parts retail store at the site of Trivia Pub and The Beer Store.

Petroccia told the that developers have requested to reduce the size of a retaining wall in the back of the property, remove several parking places and do a way with a planned third driveway from the back of the lot. 

Developers for Autozone told the board earlier this year that they would likely break ground on the store in July. The construction plan calls for the demolition of the current building, which housed the former Trivia Pub.

Trivia Pub its doors in Dec. 2010. Former Trivia Pub owner John Scanlon still owns the property and told Patch he was unsure of a for the project.

Solicitor Timothy Bish recommended that Autozone resubmit its plans for the store through the township's planning process.

  • The board approved the final version of the township's 2012 budget. The township's 2012 general operating budget is $11.4 million. Click here to the complete document. 
  • The board adopted a resolution establishing the real estate tax rate of 3.08 mills for the general purpose of the township in 2012 and a real estate tax rate of .20 mills to purchase equipment for the township's volunteer fire department. 
  • The board granted $24,000 to members of the , who are in the midst of a fundraising effort to purchase new playground equipment for the neighborhood play area. Moon Parks Director Dana Kasler told board members that staff and neighborhood volunteers will assemble the new playground equipment in the spring.
