Mustio Endorses County Councilman for Pippy's Seat

Mustio, of Moon, said he will back Allegheny County Councilman Vince Gastgeb.

Pennsylvania , R-Moon, will endorse Allegheny County Councilman Vince Gastgeb to replace state Sen. John Pippy, R-37th District, who on Tuesday said he will retire from the state legislature.

Gastgeb, R-Bethel Park, this week announced his bid to run for Pippy's seat in the November election.

Gastgeb served as a co-chair on Gov. Tom Corbett's 2010 election campaign and has served on the county council since its inception in 1999.

Mustio said in a statement:

Our state is facing many challenges. We need someone with experience tackling important issues.  With Sen. Pippy not running for re-election, Vince Gastgeb is the best person to represent the 37th Senate District. Vince Gastgeb's combination of private sector and elected county government experience gives him a unique set of tools to face these challenges and offer constructive solutions that will benefit all Pennsylvanians.

Pippy, 41, of Moon, was elected to the state Senate in a 2003 special election, filling the seat vacated after Rep. Tim Murphy was elected to Congress.

I'm having trouble deciphering/accessing complete posts above. I have not been able to follow theRead More Boards meetings since relocating a year ago to TN. The fact that it took them til 3 am to ok WalMart's plans for the space, makes me think it was contentious, as it should have been. Many of us with experience of WalMart and the existing problems with traffic in the area remain appalled to hear WalMart's moving ahead.
