Moon Parks Director Kasler Resigns

The longtime township official will mark his last day with the Moon Parks Department on Nov.

Dana Kasler will resign next month from his position as Moon Township's director of Parks and Recreation.

Kasler, who served in the role for 12 years, said he has accepted a position as deputy director of parks and recreation for Lee County, FL, in the the Fort Myers metro area.

"I'll miss the people I work with," Kasler said. "We're one big family here. When you're working 60 hours a week for the township, sometimes you see them more than your real family. My kids have grown up with them. So they're family to them too."

Kasler said he will focus on transitioning out of the department in his final weeks on the job, allocating projects, such as work on the planned riverfront park and new baseball field lighting, to other parks department staffers.

"It'll be a more challenging opportunity," Kasler said. "It's an area with a population of about 460,000 to 480,000. So it will just be a change of pace."
