Moon Park Road Named for Longtime Township Resident, WTAE Weatherman

Moon Township officials honor Joe DeNardo, who had a hand in purchasing land for Moon Park.

The one-way road that winds through Moon Park has been renamed for a longtime township volunteer.

It's been called the Moon Park Access Road since the park's founding, but officials now have redubbed the thoroughfare "Joe DeNardo Way" in honor of the township resident.

DeNardo, a member of the township's first parks advisory board in 1963, helped negotiate the purchase of property along Ewing Road, which now serves as Moon Park.

He also worked to finalize the sale of the Nimick property along Thorn Run Road—the site of Robin Hill Park.

The Moon Board of Supervisors dedicated the road to him at its Monday meeting.
