McGurk Rehired as Moon Planning Director

The former director, who had worked for the township beginning in 2007, had relocated to New York City last April.

The  approved the rehiring of Adam McGurk as the township's new planning director.

Supervisors John Hertzer and Jim Vitale said that McGurk's hiring was approved Wednesday night following an executive session at the board's workshop meeting.

McGurk, who had been employed by the township since 2007, from his position in April 2011 to relocate to New York City for his wife's position with Pittsburgh-based American Eagle Outfitters

Township manager Jeanne Creese said former planning director , who was by the township in October at an annual salary of $63,000, was terminated from the position on March 9.

Creese declined to discuss the reasons behind Gerkey's departure, citing personnel confidentiality.  Thomas J. Connelly had also been to fill the planning director position in August, but resigned for personal reasons several weeks after he had assumed the post, according to the township.

"All I can confirm is that she was terminated during her probationary period," Creese said.

Vitale said McGurk's seniority with the township and position as assistant manager will be reinstated if he accepts the township's employment offer at an annual salary of $68,000.

Creese said McGurk soon would be relocating back to the Pittsburgh area. She said the township offered him the job in the weeks after Gerkey's termination.

"The township is thrilled to welcome [McGurk] back and it's a huge benefit to the township," Creese said.

I think Adam has always done a good job in the past, I just hope he decides to live in the township.

I'm having trouble deciphering/accessing complete posts above. I have not been able to follow theRead More Boards meetings since relocating a year ago to TN. The fact that it took them til 3 am to ok WalMart's plans for the space, makes me think it was contentious, as it should have been. Many of us with experience of WalMart and the existing problems with traffic in the area remain appalled to hear WalMart's moving ahead.
