Robinson Police: Man Charged with Heroin Possession During Traffic Stop

The man faces a preliminary hearing on the charges in January.

Robinson Police said a McKees Rocks man transported heroin while his 6-year-old child rode along in the backseat of his car. 

Police charged Bernard Morgan Jr., 32, with heroin possession on Oct. 9 after he was pulled over on the Interstate 79 south-bound ramp in the township. 

Morgan's 6-year-old child was found sitting unrestrained in the car during the stop, according to police

Police, who said Morgan's McKees Rocks Road home was under surveilance amid reports he was selling heroin, found him carrying three stamp bags of the drug in his car. 

He was charged with failure to use child safety restraints, in addition to heroin possession with intent to deliver, according to police.

Police later searched Morgan's home and found a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia including hypodermic needles, and "thousands of empty glassine baggies," sometimes used for packaging heroin, according to police reports. 

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges Jan. 8 before Magisterial Judge Carla Swearingen.
