RMU Student Dies in Residence Hall

The cause of death is not considered to be suspicious, officials said.

A student was found dead Friday in his on-campus residence hall.

Senior Marco Giovengo, 22, was pronounced dead Friday evening in the university's Lexington Hall, according to the Allegheny County County Medical Examiner's office. The cause of death is not considered to be suspicious.

RMU's campus safety department declined to comment Saturday. No cause of death is available.

The university's student newspaper The Sentry reports that Giovengo, a senior sports management major from McCandless, was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and a drummer for the university's marching band. Students also selected him for RMU's 2011 homecoming court.

Giovengo was scheduled to graduate in May. He was born with muscular dystrophy.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at T.B. Devlin Funeral Home in Pittsburgh. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sisters of the Holy Spirit Chapel in Pittsburgh.

Counseling is available for students through RMU's Center for Student Success at 412-397-4346. Click here to read The Sentry's full story.

I'm having trouble deciphering/accessing complete posts above. I have not been able to follow theRead More Boards meetings since relocating a year ago to TN. The fact that it took them til 3 am to ok WalMart's plans for the space, makes me think it was contentious, as it should have been. Many of us with experience of WalMart and the existing problems with traffic in the area remain appalled to hear WalMart's moving ahead.
