Police Make Arrests for Public Drunkenness, Risking Catastrophe

Two Pittsburgh men were charged with attempting to steal a metal storm drain grate from Stoops Ferry Road and sell it for scrap metal. 

Joshua Ross Mascara, 23, and Anthony James Pape, 32, were both charged at 1:30 p.m. May 16 with felony risking catastrophe, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy after police said the pair removed a storm drain grate from the shoulder of the roadway and attempted to sell it as scrap metal on Neville Island. 

The men were taken to Allegheny County Jail following their arrest. 

Other recent incidents in the township: 

• Robert Bachorski, 42, of Ambridge, was charged with theft by deception and receiving stolen property on April 24.

• Christopher H. Kurek, 43, of Latrobe, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness at at 9 p.m. May 15. 

• Jacob T. Mason, 48, of Moon Township, was charged with public drunkenness and possession of drug paraphernalia at 6:30 p.m. May 15 near the Sewickley Bridge. Police said Mason was threatening to jump off the bridge, but later told police that he was "only joking."
