Man to Stand Trial on Charges of Striking Girlfriend with Car

A Washington County man is accused of striking a woman with his car in Moon Township.

A 40-year-old man will stand trial on charges that he struck his then-girlfriend with a car in the Cherrington Office Park. 

in April charged David Ruev, of Bentleyville, PA, with speeding off the roadway near the 100 block of Corporate Center Drive and striking his 25-year-old girlfriend with his car. Police said the two had been out on a date at a Moon Township bar with co-workers prior to the incident. 

Ruev appeared yesterday in Coraopolis District Court for a preliminary hearing. He is now scheduled to appear July 20 for a formal arraignment in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, according to court records.

The victim, Kristin Clyde, of Natrona Heights, PA, was flown to UMPC Mercy Hospital following the crash, where she was treated for a concussion, bruising on her legs and a laceration to the back of her head, requiring staples, according to police. 

Ruev, who remained at the crash until police arrived, showed signs of intoxication, police said in a statement released after his arrest.

Ruev is charged with felony aggravated assault by a vehicle, aggravated assault by a vehicle while driving under the influence, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and reckless driving.
