Man Charged with Out-Running Moon Police

A Moon Township man has been charged with fleeing during a police traffic stop.

said Michael Ian Gilbert, 38, was pulled over at 1:30 a.m. July 3 on Moon Clinton Road after police observed him speeding down the thoroughfare toward University Boulevard.

Gilbert refused to give police his driver’s license during the traffic stop and sped away as officers were questioning him, according to police reports.

Police said he was driving his ex-girlfriend's car at the time of the incident, which he had taken from Garzony's Auto Repair on University Boulevard.

When contacted, police said Gilbert's ex-girlfriend was not aware that he was driving her vehicle. Gilbert's drivers license was suspended at the time of the incident.

Police were on Moon Clinton Road responding to a security alarm sounding at an office building when they pulled Gilbert over. Gilbert has not been charged in connection to the alarm.

A summons was issued for Gilbert on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police, being a habitual offender, driving without a license, driving while operating privilege is suspended and speeding.

Gilbert previously has been convicted of attempting to elude police, according to court records.

Dominic Joseph Ceraso, 24, of Pittsburgh was charged with writing bad checks July 5 in Moon.

Police said Ceraso wrote a $2,300 check to a Moon client of his computer repair business, which bounced.
