Update: Trial Postponed for Accused Moon Carjacker

The trial for 27-year-old Joseph Manna is now scheduled for November.

Update: A trial date has been postponed for a man charged in January with a Moon Township robbery and carjacking spree. 

, 27, of McKees Rocks is accused of ramming into the cars of two women before dragging a third woman out of her vehicle, stealing it and fleeing to West Virginia.

Manna was schedule to face a jury trial today before Judge Jeffrey Williams in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. The court date has now been delayed until Nov. 28.

He is charged with two counts each of receiving stolen property, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving, three counts of reckless endangerment and one count each of robbery and criminal mischief in connection with the Jan. 15 attacks.

Witnesses to the January incident today gathered at the courthouse and waited while prosecutors and Manna's public defender negotiated for several hours.

Witnesses declined to comment but said that they were hopeful a plea bargain would be reached. 

said Manna rear-ended two vehicles on the morning of Jan. 15 on Spring Run and Brodhead roads, causing one woman to crash her car into a utility pole. After the crash, Manna fled and approached another woman about using her cell phone, police said. He then pulled the woman from her car and stole her vehicle, which he drove to West Virginia. No one was injured in the attacks.

Police said that same morning Manna assaulted and stole a black pickup truck from a Stowe Township couple before he drove to Moon.

Police in Morgantown, WV, found Manna in a homeless shelter and took him into Jan. 16. He has been at the Allegheny County Jail since his extradition to Pennsylvania.
