Moon Obituaries: Former FBI Agent Remembered

Ansel “Rocky” Packer

Ansel Packer, 62, of Moon Township and formerly Kansas, died April 23 in a Beaver County single-vehicle on Interstate 376 East. 

Born July 30 1949 in Kansas, he served for more than 30 years as a special agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Packer began his career in the FBI while it was under the leadership of J. Edgar Hoover and for three years his was assigned exclusively to Capitol Hill as a liaison agent, dealing with congressmen, senators and Supreme Court justices.

Packer was assigned to the Pittsburgh FBI bureau in 1984, where he worked in international terrorism prevention and served as the division’s drug demand reduction coordinator. He also conducted civil right violation and health care fraud investigations.

He retired from the FBI in 2005 and was an avid reader, history buff and enjoyed genealogy and classic films. 

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Judy, and four children Matt Packer, Robyn Brown, Nicole Fowkes and Sean Packer as well as four grandchildren. 

Visitation was held yesterday at . Friends will be received from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hopewell Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions can be made to the or to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania.

 

John A. Morris

John A. Morris, 46, of Moon, died April 18 after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Vicki and children Rachel and Ethan as well as his parents Anna and the late John Morris.

Morris was a 1983 graduate of Langley High School and served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a 1990 graduate of and served as director of operations for Snow Capital Management.

The family will hold a memorial service at 10 a.m. April 28 at Christ Church at Grove Farm in Sewickley with a reception following. Arrangements are conducted through .

 

Walter John Keppel

Walter John Keppel, 89, of New Mexico and formerly of Moon Township, died April 17. Born July 12, 1922 in Allentown, he was a World War II veteran who served in the European Theater.

Keppel was a retired credit manager with CODO Manufacturing and a member of St. Margaret Mary Church, where he served as an usher.

His wife Annabell, whom he married in 1952, and children Linda Keppel, Shay Hoover and Kim McElhattan, as well as five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, survive him.

Services were conducted earlier this month at . Interment was conducted at Resurrection Cemetery. The family welcomes donations in his name to be made to in Moon.
