U.S. Census Data Reports Growth in Moon Population

Allegheny County's population declined during the last decade while Pennsylvania's overall population grew.

Newly released data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that while the overall population of Allegheny County declined during the last decade, Moon grew by roughly 1,800 residents.

The 2010 Census reports Moon's overall population stands at 24,184, an increase from its 2000 population of 22,329 residents.

Crescent Township's population has also grown to 2,606 in 2010, up from 2,314 in 2000. The population of residents in the stands at 26,825.

The population of Allegheny County, meanwhile, was recorded at 1,223,348, a 4.6 percent decrease from 10 years ago. Pennsylvania's overall population rose by 3.4 percent since 2000 to more than 12.7 million residents.
