Moon Students Seek Funds to Attend Academic Games

Student teams plan two fundraisers next month.

elementary and middle school students attending international academic games next month are trying to raise some extra cash for the competition.  

Students who qualified for the competitions will hold a Schwan's food sale from 3 to 6 p.m. May 5 in the Clearview Federal Credit Union parking lot on University Boulevard. Students will also was cars from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 at Walgreens on University Boulevard.

Students from Allard, Bon Meade and the Moon Area Middle School will take on teams from throughout the country May 27 in College Park, MD.

Odyssey of the Mind is an academic program that features students competing in problem-solving exercises ranging in subject matter from mechanical devices to literature. Students are evaluated based on teamwork, creativity and critical thinking skills.

The Moon Area School Board earlier this week to fund the trip, but students are assisting with the costs through fundraising.
