Five Things You Need to Know This Week

A rundown of the week's soon-to-be big stories and upcoming events.

1. Moon newsletter available to residents

 recently released its newly re-designed community newsletter to residents. 

Copies of the newsletter were mailed on May 5, according to township Communications Director Meghan McNamara. Residents also may take a look at a PDF of the publication here.

2. Moon Area School Board meets tonight

The will meet at 7 p.m. tonight in the high school meeting room.

The board is expected to vote to include May 14 and May 28,  in the academic calendar for graduating seniors. The board also is  expected to vote to furlough six teachers in the district. Check out the agenda for tonight's meeting here.

3. Township meetings scheduled throughout the week

The Moon Comprehensive Plan Committee is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the municipal building. The township's zoning hearing board is also slated to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the municipal building. 

4. Public library offers free health screenings

The will offer free health screenings for residents at 10 a.m. today at the library's 1700 Beaver Grade Road location. 

Screenings will include blood pressure, body-fat percentage and dietary consultations. 

Healthworks of Pennsylvania will provide the screenings. No registration is required. 

5. Moon area sports take place all week

The spring sports season is in full swing. Baseball, softball and volleyball games are scheduled throughout the week. Check out a schedule here.
