Five Things You Need to Know This Week

1. Zoning hearing to take place Wednesday.

2. Robot tour comes to Moon.

The Carnegie Science Center's Rockin' Robots World Tour will stop by the at 1 p.m. Saturday. 

Kids and their families can meet Quasi, a childlike animatronic robot, interact with robotic technology, and see robots that work in factories, hospitals and homes. The event is free to attend, but you have to register. Contact librarian Megan Goode at 412.269.0334 or goodem@einetwork.net.

3. Petitions for local elections available Tuesday.

Planning to run for a local office? The Allegheny County Elections Division announced petitions for elected offices on the May 17 municipal primary ballot, including positions on the Moon Area School Board, are available beginning Feb. 8.

Nominating petitions can be picked up at the County Office Building, located at 542 Forbes Ave. in Pittsburgh.  Check back with Patch Tuesday morning for more information. 

4. MCA-TV to hold free interviews for non-profits. 

will be holding free on-air interviews for Pittsburgh-area nonprofit organizations next month. Organizations should sign up now to participate.

Moon's community access television station will hold the two-day marathon of live interviews on March 18 and 19.

 5. Library to hold anti-Valentines Day bash. 

Sure, Valentines Day isn't until next week. But Moon-area teens can take part in a decidedly anti-sentimental party at 6 p.m. Thursday in the  's sky room. Food and drink will be served.  Contact librarian Heather Panella for more information at panellah@einetwork.net.
