The board also postpones action on an application for a Steubenville Pike billboard.
Commissioners in Robinson Township moved to postpone a decision on whether a property owner could erect a billboard on a Steubenville Pike property. Earlier this year, the estate of Richard Lang submitted a conditional use application to the township to put up a traditional billboard, without a light-emitting diode display, at a property at 5320 Steubenville Pike. If the request is granted, Lamar Advertising, of Green Tree, will be unable to build the electronic-display billboard it has sought to use in the area. Robinson Township's ordinance prohibits billboards from being built within 750 feet of one another. Robinson officials have considered amending the community's existing ordinances on billboards to include provisions for …

Vacant buildings and unused storefronts are eyesores, but an empty storefront can also be an opportunity. You don't need to be a commercial developer or city planner—or have money to invest in a business project—to have the next great idea. This former ice cream and coffee shop at 5890 Steubenville Pike closed its doors as a Niko's Coffee, Cream & Bean in October 2012; Niko's management announced on Patch that the company looked to focus on its other locations. Niko's still serves up coffee and pastries at its shop at 6504 Steubenville Pike. The storefront, owned by Five D Development, has a history as an ice cream shop—Bruster's and the locally owned Stacy Jo's Ice Cream each called the facility home. Now we want to know: What business …

Commissioners will vote in February to allow digital and electronic-display billboards in Robinson Township.
Robinson commissioners on Monday tabled a measure that would allow electronic and digital-display billboards in the township. Township officials have proposed revising the existing ordinance for billboards and signage to include specifics for display lighting and electronic panels. The Louisiana-based firm Lamar Advertising seeks to place a billboard featuring an LED (light-emitting diode) display along the 5000 block of Steubenville Pike, though the township's existing policy does not include language specific to electronic-display signage. Commissioners tabled a vote on the zoning ordinance amendment until the board's Feb. 4 meeting. "What tonight is all about is basically to remedy and add to the existing regulations dealing with …
