Commissioners in Robinson Township moved to postpone a decision on whether a property owner could erect a billboard on a Steubenville Pike property. Earlier this year, the estate of Richard Lang submitted a conditional use application to the township to put up a traditional billboard, without a light-emitting diode display, at a property at 5320 Steubenville Pike. If the request is granted, Lamar Advertising, of Green Tree, will be unable to build the electronic-display billboard it has sought to use in the area. Robinson Township's ordinance prohibits billboards from being built within 750 feet of one another. Inspection activities will take place today on the bridge that carries Steubenville Pike over Chartiers Creek.
Inspection activities are scheduled to begin today, March 20 on the bridge that carries Steubenville Pike (Route 60) over Chartiers Creek, railroad tracks and Napor Boulevard in Thornburg, according to PennDOT. Single lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the bridge between Woodmere Drive, Ingram Avenue and West Steuben Street, and Baldwin and Cornell roads. An Imperial man is suspected in an early morning homicide on Steubenville Pike.
A man enraged by a text message opened fire early this morning inside the Fort Pitt Inn on Steubenville Pike, injuring three and killing one, according to police David Mazzocco, 25, of Imperial, is suspected in the shooting, Allegheny County Police said. Mazzocco opened fire in the bar just before 1 a.m., as about nine people drank inside the establishment. Police believe the man became angry while reading text messages on his phone, then left the bar, returning with three weapons, including a rifle. He then ordered two people to leave the bar, and opened fire on the remaining patrons, police said. It is not known whether the shooting was planned. Robinson Township will host a youth dance for pre-teens and teens Saturday night at the Moon Run Fire Hall on Steubenville Pike. Admission is free for the event, which is open to youths ages 11 to 14. Click here to download a permission slip or pick one up today at the Robinson Township administrative office. Two New Jersey men have been charged with drug possession.
Allegheny County Sheriffs deputies found more than $400,000-worth of heroin at a Robinson Township hotel room. Two New Jersey men—Santino Drew, 35, and Thomas Martinez, 33, were charged with conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver and drug possession on Jan. 31 in connection to the incident, according to court records. After obtaining a search warrant on Jan. 31 for the pair's room at the Comfort Inn at 4470 Steubenville Pike, deputies found 26,000 stamp bags of heroin in the room, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It is unclear what prompted deputies to secure the warrant. Drew and Martinez are held on $100,000 bail, each. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Tuesday.

Criminal charges have been dropped against a man whose finger was bitten off during a fight at a Robinson Township restaurant.
Magisterial Judge Carla Swearingen dismissed criminal charges against a West Virginia man whose finger was bitten off during a family brawl in a Robinson Township restaurant. Tony Sellitti, 48, of Weirton, WV, appeared Tuesday in district court on charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. Each of the charges against Sellitti has been dropped. In a criminal complaint, Robinson Police said Sellitti in September was attending a birthday dinner for an elderly relative at Ditka's restaurant off Steubenville Pike, when a scuffle broke out amongst family members. Sellitti was injured in the fight and sought medical treatment at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Officers later found Sellitti's detached finger on the restaurant's …

Robinson commissioners on Monday tabled a measure that would allow electronic and digital-display billboards in the township. Township officials have proposed revising the existing ordinance for billboards and signage to include specifics for display lighting and electronic panels. A Mercer County man was killed last week while driving on Steubenville Pike.
Robinson Police say a man killed days ago in a one-vehicle crash on Steubenville Pike may have had a medical emergency while driving. Gregory Unrue, 59, of Fredonia, Mercer County, was killed at 4 a.m. Dec. 7 in front of TJ's Deli Mart at 5942 Steubenville Pike. Unrue's vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Robinson Police Chief Dale Vietmeier said no one else was present in the vehicle or injured at the time of the crash. Vietmeier said Unrue may have had a "medical episode" while behind the wheel. No cause of the crash has been determined.

An autopsy is scheduled for later today, according to the county medical examiner's office.
One man is dead after an early morning car crash near the intersection of Steubenville Pike and Tidball Lane in Robinson Township. 59-year-old Gregory Unrue, of Fredonia, Mercer County, was killed in the crash, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office. The crash occured just before 4 a.m. in front of TJ's Deli Mart at 5942 Steubenville Pike. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed later today. Robinson Township Police could not be reached for comment. Further details were not immediately available.
