The man was charged Dec. 5 with stealing a jewelry box.

A Pittsburgh man who police said burglarized a home on Shafer Road waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court.  Brian Flesher, 26, is charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after police said he kicked down a door on Shafer Road and stole a jewelry box.   The home's owner and her teenage daughter arrived home on Dec. 5 to find Flesher's vehicle parked in their driveway. A Pittsburgh man has been charged in connection to a Shafer Road burglary.

The teen took a photo of the car's license plate. The women said a man then ran from inside the home, carrying a wooden jewelry box, and drove off in the car, McCarthy said.  McCarthy said 45 minutes later the burglary suspect, 26-year-old Brian James Flesher, was in police custody.  Police traced the license plate number from the photo to the owner of the vehicle's home on Oswald Street in Pittsburgh's Brighton Heights neighborhood. Radar Upgrade Helps National Weather Service in Moon Pinpoint Tornadoes

The system will help the service detect weather activity.

The National Weather Service in Moon is enhancing its Doppler radar system to better detect tornadoes and other weather activity. The weather service's Shafer Road offices soon will carry advanced dual polarization radar technology that will enable it to more accurately monitor flooding, heavy rainfall and improve hail detection. The technology will allow meteorologists to detect the presence of airborne tornado debris and better track tornado location. "It will give us a better understanding of what we're dealing with and where to locate tornadoes after touchdown," said Lee Hendricks, a meteorologist with the Moon bureau. It is the most significant upgrade to the nation's weather radar network since Doppler radar was introduced to the …
