Robinson-Moon Area 2013 Primary Election Results

The results of the primary election are in and there are a few local upsets in the race municipal, school board and county council seats on the Democratic and Republican tickets. Incumbent Matt Drozd lost the race for the Republican nomination to the District 1 County Council seat to challenger Thomas J. Baker, who captured 53 percent of the Republican vote to Drozd's 47 percent. Montour School Board President Ronald William Smith lost on both the Republican and Democratic tickets to challenger Darryl Young for the Region 1 seat, virtually assuring Young the seat in the fall general election. The Patch totals are not updated to include absentee voting. Look at the results for each Commissioner ticket in Robinson (absentee votes in parentheses). Anyone else find it a bit weird that the Robinson Democratic Committee slate got a whopping 10% of their votes from absentee ballots? The proportion for the other 3 slates were each only around 3%. Severe Thunderstorm Possible Wednesday Afternoon in Moon, Robinson Area

The primary threat would be from damaging wind gusts.

There is a small chance that thunderstorms may become severe Wednesday afternoon in the Moon and Robinson area, according to a hazardous outlook issued by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. "The primary threat would be from damaging wind gusts, but large hail is also possible," the statement says. National Weather Services Issues Freeze Warning for Moon, Robinson Area

Temperatures Sunday night through Monday morning are expected to dip below freezing.

Pennies Fundraiser to Support Montour Trail

Volunteers with the Airport Area Friends of the Montour Trail will collect loose change donations as part of the annual fundraiser.

Do you have an old jar of pennies? The Airport Area Friends of the Montour Trail is having their 17th annual "Pennies For Your Trail" campaign on Saturday, May 11.  Frank Keppel, a resident of Robinson and a 20-year volunteer with the Montour Trail, said all money raised from the event will be used to maintain the Airport Area sections of the Montour Trail. Rain or shine, trail volunteers will be out from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the intersection of Montour Run Road and Park Manor Boulevard (the gazebo below Robinson Town Centre) in Robinson collecting and weighing loose change.    "We gladly take paper money as well," Keppel said.  Each year the group conducts the fundraiser a day before Mothers Day. Bring Your Child to Work on Thursday

Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day allows employees to bring their own children to work and offer them experiences in their workplace.

The fourth Thursday of April is Take Your Child To Work Day, and lands on April 25 this year. This is the 20th anniversary of Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day—as it is officially called.
