Moon Residents Appointed to Township Committees, Boards

The following residents have been selected to serve in 2013.

The Moon Township Board of Supervisors earlier this week selected township residents to serve on a variety of township organizations, boards and advisory groups.  Take a look through our list to see whom the board selected during its reorganization meeting. Check back later this week for more information on Robinson committees.  Members of this newly established committee will serve two-year terms. The committee will help the township devise a transportation impact ordinance. Two vacancies remain.  The members will oversee roadway analysis studies and make recommendations on road improvements, capital improvements and impact fees, among other tasks. Getting to know Marv Eicher

The recently appointed chairman of the Board of Supervisors speaks to Patch about his new position and the issues facing Moon.

An eight-year member of the township's Board of Supervisors, Marv Eicher earlier this month was appointed the board's newest chairman after a 5-0 vote. The Bon Meade neighborhood resident spoke with Patch this week about his new position.  Best way to contact him: Eicher said residents can reach him through his township email at meicher@moontwp.com. Residents Sound Off on Moon's Development in Comprehensive Plan Survey

Township officials hope to gather input from residents on Moon's future growth.

Lynn Kirkpatrick, owner of the Village Shoppe boutique on Thorn Run Road, said she worries potential customers may too readily travel to Robinson Township. She said Moon’s scattershot business district and lack of a town square drives shoppers away from the township. Instead, she said, they spend their money in nearby communities, where they find a larger selection of corporate retail stores and eateries.  “We’re pushing people to shop outside of the Moon area,” said Kirkpatrick, who has owned the Village Shoppe for 22 years. “If that continues, [Moon small businesses] will be gone eventually.” Kirkpatrick on Nov. 8 received Moon Township’s comprehensive plan survey in the mail. Susan, sidewalks have been an issue for nearly the 20 years I have lived here. The supervisors continue to give up sidewalks when deciding to approve or disapprove a preliminary and final development plan.
