This will restrict all access to Scott Road and Casteel Drive during the first two weekends in April. The closure begins at 5 p.m. Friday, April 5 through 6 a.m. Monday, April 8 and will begin again on Friday, April 12, weather permitting. The Moon-based Hollow Oak Land Trust is readying to acquire a 16-acre parcel of land off Hassam Road, marking another step towards creating a township-wide system of public-access trailways. Director Sean Brady said the nonprofit will use the land as a wildlife habitat that is open to the public for low-impact, non-motorized recreation. The property, which is currently owned by Moon Township, is located near the Forest Grove Sportsmans Club, off the Montour Trail. Brady described the land as some of the greenest off the Montour Trail. "It's this triangle-shaped parcel that is between two of our conservation areas," he said. No fishing license is required on Memorial Day to fish in the state's waterways.
Families and friends visiting Pennsylvania’s popular outdoor spots, such as North Park Lake, this holiday weekend can enjoy a day of free fishing, thanks to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Memorial Day, May 28, marks the first of the state's two free fishing days where no fishing license is needed. Fish-for-Free Days allow anyone—residents and non-residents—to legally fish in Pennsylvania from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. All other fishing regulations apply. A second Fish-for-Free Day is planned for Labor Day—Monday, Sept. 3. “Fish-for-Free days are a convenient way to introduce friends and family to the sport of fishing,” commission Executive Director John Arway said. “Many families spend the day at lakes and parks throughout the …

This plan looks good. It appears that a piece of proposed trail is very close to the Montour Trail. Possibly at a later point, a bridge could be built across the stream connecting to the Montour Trail.   more ›
