RMU Game Show Fundraiser to Benefit Late Student

Proceeds from 'RMU Feud' will benefit the Marco Giovengo Memorial Fund.

Robert Morris University students will remember an RMU senior who died in March with a live webcast on RMUSentryMedia.com. Communications students will host a live online broadcast of "RMU Feud," a spin on the daytime TV staple Family Feud. Proceeds from sponsorships of the broadcast will benefit the Marco Giovengo Memorial Fund.  Christine Sonsen, a media management student at the university, said the game show is the perfect way to remember Giovengo, a senior who died in his residence hall in March of complications from Muscular Dystrophy.  "He was so fun-loving," she said. "So this is just really fitting."  Sonsen said students sold sponsorships for the broadcast to area businesses, which will directly benefit Giovengo's memorial. …

RMU Student Remembered as Loyal Friend, Inspiration

RMU senior Marco Giovengo died March 16 in Lexington Hall on Robert Morris University's campus.

Friends and university officials remember Robert Morris University student Marco Giovengo as a loyal friend who blossomed during his time as a student at the Moon-based university. Giovengo, 22, of McCandless, died the evening of March 16 when his heart stopped beating in his Lexington Hall dorm room on campus, according to a story in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.  Giovengo, who was born with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, was scheduled to graduate in May. The newspaper reports that he was goodwill ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Giovengo was a drummer in the university's marching band and was selected for the university's 2011 homecoming court. The senior sports management major was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa …

RMU Student Dies in Residence Hall

The cause of death is not considered to be suspicious, officials said.

A Robert Morris University student was found dead Friday in his on-campus residence hall.  Senior Marco Giovengo, 22, was pronounced dead Friday evening in the university's Lexington Hall, according to the Allegheny County County Medical Examiner's office. The cause of death is not considered to be suspicious. RMU's campus safety department declined to comment Saturday. No cause of death is available.  The university's student newspaper The Sentry reports that Giovengo, a senior sports management major from McCandless, was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and a drummer for the university's marching band.
