A man from Moon Township accused of stealing more than $61,000 from the charity Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council will face a trial on charges of theft and misapplication of trust. Joshua DeNinno, 34, of Fernvue Drive, is accused of stealing the money from the charity, which "promotes charitable estate planning," beginning in 2009. The Allegheny District Attorney's office has charged DeNinno with moving money from the charity's bank account to his own, according to court records. The charity discovered discrepancies in its accounting in 2011, and reported the fraud to police. Police found a man passed out in a Mooncrest home, neglecting a 4-year-old in his care, according to court records.
A Moon Township man discovered drunk and sleeping while a four-year-old girl in his care was unattended in a bathtub will stand trial on charges of child endangerment. Peter Weaver, 31, is accused of neglecting the child on March 21, when a bus driver reported to police that he could not drop off a 7-year-old girl at the home because no one answered the door. The bus driver said he could see a small child running in the home, but no one answered the door. When police arrived at the Oak Drive home, they found the 4-year-old, crying, naked and soiled, sitting inside an empty bathtub. Weaver was sleeping in his underwear in another room. A Pittsburgh woman faces a preliminary hearing today in Coraopolis on charges she threatened a woman who was expected to testify against her boyfriend in court. Mandy Gumm, 26, contacted a woman in Moon Township and threatened to harm her if she testified against Gumm's boyfriend, 23-year-old Brandon Brown, of Pittsburgh, police allege in a criminal complaint. Two Pittsburgh men accused of robbing a cab driver at gunpoint in Moon Township's Mooncrest neighborhood are heading to trial. Brandon Brown, 23, and Lyndard Grace, 23, each appeared Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court in connection to the incident. Moon Police said the men were riding in a Yellow Cab taxi early on Jan. 23, when Brown pulled a silver Raven Arms revolver and pointed it at the cab driver's head, demanding money. The cab driver unbuckled his seatbelt and ran toward Thorn Run Road, where he contacted police on his cell phone, according to a criminal complaint. Charges have been dismissed against a Moon Township woman accused of defrauding a senior citizen whom she befriended. Jeanette Nolte, 44, was arrested in November on charges of accessing a 63-year-old woman's bank account to obtain a debt card and using it to make fraudulent purchases at Moon and Coraopolis-area businesses. Police said the victim was in poor health at the time of the alleged incident. Charges of access device fraud and theft by deception facing Nolte were dismissed Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court, according to court records. Moon Township Police said 20-year-old William Bosley was in possession of a 9 mm Smith and Wesson handgun and more than 40 stamp bags containing heroin on New Year's Day at the Thorn Run Road hotel. Bosley appeared Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court. Hotel staff called police on Jan. 1 after Bosley's girlfriend, 19-year-old Phalonda Pollard, ran into the hotel lobby, claiming Bosley held a gun to her head after a fight in their room. A Kennedy Township man will face a trial on charges he stored and shared hundreds of pornographic photos and videos depicting pre-teen girls on his personal computer. Jeffrey Guzzo, 47, was charged by Moon Township Police in January with disseminating child pornography, possession of child pornography and possession of obscene and other sexual materials, according to court records. A Kennedy Township man is slated to face a preliminary hearing in Coraopolis on charges he stored pornographic videos and images of children on his computer. Jeffrey Guzzo, 47, of Helen Street, is charged with disseminating child pornography, possession of child pornography and possession of obscene and other sexual materials, according to court records. An Ohio woman charged with prostitution following a Moon Police sting has waived her right to a preliminary hearing. Desiree Owens, 22, of Dayton, appeared Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court. She is charged with misdemeanor promoting prostitution and possessing instruments of crime. A felony charge of promoting prostitution was withdrawn. The woman was arrested on Dec. 3 at the Motel 6 on Thorn Run Road after police said she agreed to meet with an undercover police officer to have sex in exchange for money, according to a criminal complaint. A man accused of stealing lottery tickets from a Moon Township business appears in Coraopolis District Court.
A former employee of the Smoke Stack in Moon Township waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges that he entered the business overnight to steal lottery tickets. Raymond Forrester, 23, of Oakdale, left his job at the tobacco shop in November, but used a security code to access the store 15 times after leaving his job, stealing dozens of lottery tickets valued at more than $1,100, police said in a complaint. Forrester appeared Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court. Staff members at the Smoke Stack reported multiple overnight break-ins at the business, but the building, located off Carnot Road, showed no signs of forced entry.
