Moon Township volunteer firefighters removed a driver and patient from an ambulance Sunday night after the vehicle slid off Boggs School Road. A Valley Ambulance vehicle, which was transporting a patient just after 7 p.m. from Green Valley Personal Care home on Boggs School Road, was in danger of sliding down a hillside on the roadway, said a Moon Police dipatcher. Crews helped a patient and ambulance driver from the vehicle before pulling it back to the roadway. No injuries were reported in the rescue, the dispatcher said.
A county official says work may conclude earlier than expected.
Debbie Amerio, a resident of the Bon Meade neighborhood, said it’s added up to extra dollars spent on her husband's commute to work. An extensive bridge replacement project on Spring Run Road Extension has closed a portion of the roadway. The closing resulted in the relocation of her daughter's bus stop to Flaugherty Run Road and prompted Amerio's concern that first responders would be delayed in an emergency while they take the miles-long detour to her neighborhood. "It's a safety issue," Amerio said. "And it's inconvenient, but couldn't [the roadwork] have waited until the spring?"
