No Construction Date Yet for Planned Moon Walmart

The national big-box retailer plans a Moon Township location off University Boulevard.

Officials from Walmart have resubmitted a highway occupancy application to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for its planned Moon Township store.  Moon Planning Director Adam McGurk said the Arkansas-based retailer resubmitted the application for the permit on Oct. 19.  PennDOT spokesman James Struzzi said "no timeline" is yet available for the store to receive the permit. Work cannot begin at the site until its highway occupancy permit is granted. Walmart purchased property at the corner of Brodhead Road and University Boulevard in 2007, where it plans to build a 150,000-square foot store on the site of the former West Hills Shopping Center. People who complain about importing from third world country obvioiusly have no idea how global business works. If you put up trade barriers, they will do the same for our products and services. Why should consumers pay higher price to protect domestic production - when did ever prove to be good for the economy.
