Tim McLaughlin: Confusion Over MTA Resignation Led to Dismissal

Former supervisor says he believes a resignation was not necessary.

Former Moon supervisor Tim McLaughlin said he did not know he was required to resign separately from the Moon Transportation Authority when he left his position on the board of supervisors. Township supervisors voted 5-to-0 last week to remove McLaughlin from the authority because he did not attend any of its 2011 meetings. McLaughlin resigned from his seat on the board of supervisors in August after his position with U.S. Airways was relocated to Charlotte, NC.  "When I resigned as supervisor it would seem like common sense that they would just take you off of everything," he said. The authority, which oversees infrastructure development in Moon, operates independently of the township's supervisors. The board of supervisors traditionally …

Former Supervisor Removed from Moon Transportation Authority

The board voted unanimously to appoint recently elected Supervisor John Hertzer to the position.

The Moon Board of Supervisors ousted a former township resident from his position on the Moon Transportation Authority for missing meetings for a full year.   Supervisors voted 5-0 Wednesday to remove former supervisor Tim McLaughlin from his position on the transportation authority for failing to attend any of its 2011 meetings. McLaughlin's term on the MTA was slated to end in January 2016.  The board appointed recently elected Supervisor John Hertzer to serve the remainder of McLaughlin's term on the authority.  Two members of the board of supervisors are traditionally appointed to serve on the five-member authority, which was established in 1987 to promote infrastructure development in the community. Supervisor Frank Sinatra is also a …

McLaughlin was a class act all the way. He stayed on as a Supervisor even when he was no longer living here. He used the fact that he still owned an unused house in Moon as his justification for remaining on the board. My criticism is wasted effort because I'm sure that he's not looking at Moon Patch.   more ›

McLaughlin Resigns from Moon Township's Board of Supervisors

The township also has hired a new planning director.

Moon Supervisor Timothy McLaughlin resigned Wednesday from his position on the township Board of Supervisors.  Board chairman Jim Vitale announced the resignation at the board's monthly meeting. McLaughlin, whose job with U.S. Airways was transferred to Charlotte, N.C., did not attend the meeting. Supervisor Frank Sinatra indicated at the meeting that McLaughlin's out-of-state job transfer was the reason behind his resignation. McLaughlin's home at 111 Snell Drive, which has been listed as for sale for much of the year, was recently sold, according to county property records. The Pennsylvania Township Supervisor's Handbook requires that supervisors reside in the townships they serve.  "He was dedicated to this community," Sinatra said at …

What took you so long? You have been out-of-town for most of this year, and denied the community a replacement because of your ego, power and control issues? You have done harm to the community while a resident and while away. How sad.   more ›
