A Scott Township man and chef at an exclusive country club in Robinson Township is being accused of molesting a young boy over several years. Scott Township police arrested Garry Burgess, 44, last week and charged him with felony charges of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and unlawful contact with a minor. Investigators said the molestation began about five years ago when the boy was in second grade. The boy told investigators that the sexual abuse occurred five to seven times at Burgess’ Glendale home until he was 10 years old. The Sewickley man allegedly took donation jars meant for cancer patients and area volunteer fire departments. The alleged thefts took place on Neville Island, Scott Township and Peters.
A Sewickley man arrested this week is accused of stealing charitable donation jars from several businesses across the Pittsburgh area, including Scott Township. The jars contained loose change to help cancer patients and area volunteer fire departments. Ohio Township police Chief Norbert Micklos said they arrested Michael Coyle, 33, of Sewickley, after he allegedly took the donation jar at a 7-Eleven on Neville Island on Jan. 20. Ohio Township police, who cover Neville Island, charged him with theft and receiving stolen property. But Micklos said Coyle also confessed to similar thefts in Scott Township and Peters. Authorities have identified the Mercer County man who died Tuesday afternoon after he fell from the roof of an industrial park near Carnegie. Melvin Kinsinger, 38, Greenville, was working on the roof of the Future-All Incorporated building at Gregg and Hammond streets in the Scott Township industrial park when he fell 30 feet from the roof, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office. Glendale Volunteer Fire Department officials said he fell shortly before 3 p.m. Scott Township police and firefighters from Glendale and East Carnegie were called to the industrial park to assist the Allegheny County homicide investigators at the scene. Sen. Bob Casey awarded a local veteran for his service in World War II.
Sen. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, presented Scott Township resident Walter Howe, 86, with a medal of commendation for his service in World War II. Howe, a veteran of the Navy, served on the Naval destroy U.S.S. Jenks, which was built at the Neville Island-based Dravo Corporation. Casey and Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, met with the man Friday at Moon Township's Army Reserve base, following the ground-breaking ceremony for the new University Boulevard military commissary.

A Scott Township man accused of date raping two women will go to trial on most of the charges.
A Scott Township man accused of date raping two women last year will go to trial on most of the charges. Aaron Duran, 36, is accused of drugging the drinks of two women on separate occasions at area bars before taking them back to his Greentree Road home and raping them. Scott police arrested him on March 6 and charged him with two counts each of sexual assault, raping an unconscious victim and rape of a substantially impaired person. At a preliminary hearing on April 12, District Judge Gary Zyra held him for trial on one sexual assault charge and three of the four rape charges. Zyra dismissed the other two charges.
