Montour, Moon Area Unranked on U.S. News and World Report's 'Best Schools' List

U.S. News and World Report's annual high school rankings are out and neither Moon Area nor Montour are ranked.

Montour High School and Moon Area High School are unranked in U.S. News and World Report's annual rankings of America's best high schools released on Tuesday.  The number one high school in Pennsylvania is Julia R. Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration School in Philadelphia. Nearby Mt. Lebanon and Quaker Valley school districts ranked in the top 15.  Schools are evaluated based on overall student performance on state tests, Advanced Placement tests and International Baccalaureate exams; rankings also take into account how well students educate black, Hispanic and economically disadvantaged students, according to a release from U.S. News.  The rankings are designed to capture how well high schools educate all of their students and prepare…

Moon Area Places in Top 50 of School Rankings

The Moon Area School District ranked 15th in combined SAT scores against other regional schools. See how the district compares to other area schools.

The Moon Area School District ranked in the top 50 of area high schools for best state standardized test scores. Moon Area High School students students ranked 15th in combined SAT scores, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times. The combined SAT score of 1,546 was a 2.2 percent increase over the previous year, according to the Times rankings.  Montour did not make the list. Upper St. Clair ranked first overall. How Moon compared to other schools in the area:  Chartiers Valley – 35th Keystone Oaks – 34th Bethel Park – 16th Moon – 15th South Fayette – 11th Peters Township – 6th Mt. Lebanon – 3rd Upper St. Clair – 1st

I agree Dr. Milanovich has done a great job. Let's not forget the previous School Board which gave her the tools to improve the district. They gave her and the teachers new facilities, new equipment to help assist the students. Kudos to the previous board.   more ›
