Former Moon Maintenance Man Appears in Court on Burglary Charges

A former maintenance man is accused of entering apartments in Moon Township to steal prescription medications.

An elderly Moon Township woman said she became suspicious after dozens of her prescribed Vicodin pills seemingly disappeared from the bottle in her Waterford Landing apartment.  The woman, who said she infrequently takes the medication, had a prescription for 100 pills filled by pharmacists on Aug. 13.  By Aug. 29, just 31 pills were left in the bottle, she said.  The woman hesitated to report the missing medication because "you reach a point where people might say it's your age," according to her testimony in Coraopolis District Court.  Moon Township Police have charged 57-year-old Richard Jugovich, a former maintenance worker at Waterford Landing, with repeatedly entering her apartment to steal the pills. Moon Man Charged in Harvest Court Burglary Waives Hearing

The man is also accused of stealing his father's car, according to police records.

A Moon Township man charged with burglarizing a Harvest Court home and driving off in his father's car has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.  Michael Williams, 24, appeared yesterday in Coraopolis District Court on charges he broke into a neighbor's home and car on Harvest Court. Police obtained a warrant for Williams' arrest after he went missing for several days earlier in September, driving off without permission in his father's 2004 Chevrolet Impala.  A formal arraignment on the the charges is set for Nov. 9 in the Allegheny County of Common Pleas. Police said the man entered the home, located in the Broad Hill Farms residential plan, through an unlocked door in April and stole a gold ring and poker chips valued at several …

Woman Charged in Moon Hotel Fraud Waives Hearing

A Beaver County woman is accused of attempting to deceive hotel employees out of giving her cash refunds.

An Aliquippa woman who police said attempted to trick hotel employees into giving her cash refunds has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.  Police said Sharon Lepore, 40, told hotel employees at the Crowne Plaza Hotel earlier that she was overcharged for her stay at the hotel and a manager promised her a $124 refund. Hotel staff issued her the cash refund, though it was later found they had no record of her renting a room.   Police received a similar complaint from the Courtyard by Marriott hotel on Cherrington Parkway. Police said a woman later identified as Lepore approached the hotel's front desk and asked for a cash refund. Staff at the Marriott did not issue the refund, but they did make a copy of her driver's license.  Lepore …

Man Charged with Hit-and-Run Crash Waives Hearing

Clifford Dilley will next appear in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.

A Moon Township man charged with seriously injuring a teen in a hit-and-run crash on Moon Clinton Road waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday.  Clifford Dilley, 76, of Wyndhurst Drive, is charged with felony accidents involving death or personal injury and reckless driving stemming from the Oct. 29 incident.  Police said Dilley struck an unidentified 17-year-old girl as she walked home alongside Moon Clinton Road. Dilley told police he believed he hit a deer and continued home.  Authorities found the girl lying unconcious along the roadway. She was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital from the scene of the crash. Police said she was hospitalized in a physical rehabilitation unit in the months after the crash.   Dilley appeared briefly …

Man Charged with Attacking Moon Officer to Appear in Court

A man charged with attacking a Moon Police officer during an August traffic stop faces a preliminary hearing today. Moon Police charged Damien L. Delts, 37, of Aliquippa, on Aug. 31 with aggravated assault, criminal attempt, possession with intent to deliver, resisting arrest, hindering apprehension or prosecution, drug possession, criminal mishcief and driving with a suspended license.  Police said he struck Moon Officer Ian Lucas in the face several times during a traffic stop on Old Thorn Run Road. Delts, who was driving a vehicle registered in New Jersey, was later found to be in possession of crack cocaine, according to police reports.  Delts is scheduled to appear in Coraopolis District Court before Magisterial Judge Mary Murray.  …
