Moon Woman Charged with Biting Police Officer

A Moon Township woman kicked a Moon Police officer and bit another as she was being taken into the department's station.  Kerrie Ann Dyczewski, 45, was charged on March 13 with making terroristic threats, simple assault, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.  Police arrested Dyzczewski following a domestic dispute, in which she was charged with attacking her boyfriend.  As officers escorted Dyzczewski away, she told her boyfriend she would "kill him," police said.  The woman fought Moon officers as they attempted to bring her into the station, and yelled "abusive and threatening" remarks, according to a police complaint.  Dyzczewski's head struck a wall in the lobby of the station as police fought to subdue her. Police said she bit an …

Man Thrown from Car in Coraopolis Heights Road Crash

Police charged a motorist with drunken driving after a one-vehicle crash.

A man was thrown 50 feet from his car after an early morning crash on Coraopolis Heights Road.  Police said a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Daniel Sullivan, of Moon Township, skidded off the the road near the Montour Heights Country Club at about 2:30 p.m. March 2.  Police found Sullivan's Toyota Tacoma flipped on its roof and Sullivan laying in the snow, more than 50 feet from the vehicle.  The man was traveling southbound on Coraopolis Heights before he lost control of the vehicle, which crashed onto its roof and ejected him.  Sullivan was concious and complaining of leg pain when police arrived. He said he was on his way back from the Skylark Lounge in Moon Township, where he consumed more than five drinks.  Officer James Kazmierczak …

Aliquippa Woman Charged with Stealing Ukuleles in Robinson

Police in Robinson arrest the woman, saying she stole multiple stringed instruments from a music shop.

Robinson Township Police say a Beaver County woman is charged with stealing stringed instruments from a Park Manor Boulevard music shop.  Marianne Kristene Cook, 28, of Aliquippa, was arrested Feb. 4 on charges she stole three mandolins and two ukuleles from the Guitar Center on Park Manor Boulevard.  Store management told police that several thefts have occurred at the store since August, totalling more than $4,000 in missing instruments from the store.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 14.

Moon Police: Man Arrested After Maple Street Extension Crash

A man was charged with drug possession following a one-vehicle crash on Maple Street Extension in Moon Township.  Lucas McCormick, 31, of Moon Township, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving, according to police.  Police said McCormick's Ford F-350 crashed into several metal mailbox poles just after 9 a.m. Jan. 29. Contractors Arrested on Drug Charges at 911th Airlift Wing

Moon Township Police blotter for Monday, Jan. 21.

Contractors working at the 911 Airlift Wing in Moon Township were detained by Air Force security forces and charged with drug possession. The men, 48-year-old Emil Provident, of Pittsburgh and 37-year-old Robert McGrail, of Versailles, were charged by Moon Police with prohibited acts after Air Force security said the men tried to bring marijuana paraphernalia onto the base.  Provident and McGrail, who are employed by a roofing contractor working for the base, were stopped at the gate on Jan. 7 after security smelled an odor marijuana emanating from their van. Security then searched the vehicle and found bags smelling like marijuana and a pipe. All persons are subject to search on a military installation.  Moon Township Police made the …

Moon Police: Township Man Tased After Threatening Police

Moon Township Police blotter for Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Moon officers subdued a township man with a Taser gun after a domestic dispute in his home, according to police. Barry R. Buffington, 42, of Moon Township, was taken to the Allegheny County Jail on the evening of Dec. 20 and charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, and public drunkenness in connection to the altercation. Police said Buffington threatened to fight Moon Police officers who were responding to a complaint of a fight between Buffington and a family member at the Brodhead Road home. Buffington refused to comply with police orders, at one point clenching his fists and lunging toward officers in the home, according to a complaint filed by Moon Officer Jonathan Fry.
