Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a look ahead at what's going on in Moon Township for the week of March 26.

The Moon Area School District's annual kindergarten round-up will be held throughout the week at Sharon Community Presbyterian Church. Click here for times and details on attending.  The Moon Board of Supervisors will hold its monthly workshop meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Moon Municipal Building.  The board will convene at 7 p.m. tonight in the high school meeting room. Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a quick look ahead at what's going on in Moon for the week of Jan. 30.

The Moon Board of Supervisors last week voted 5-to-0 to have township officials begin preparing bid specifications for a roof repair at the Moon Township Public Library. The repairs will also include work on the building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.  Library officials, including Bob Toothman, president of the Moon Library Board of Trustees, and head librarian Suzi Ruskin, who were both in attendance at the board's meeting, said roof leaks have continued in the building throughout the winter season.  Township manager Jeanne Creese said the township was unable to find existing office space to house the library, Moon Township Municipal Authority and Moon Community Access TV. Planning Commission Recommends Suspending Work on Marcellus Shale Regulations

In light of state legislation, Moon officials might temporarily suspend work on Marcellus shale zoning regulations.

The Moon planning commission has recommended that township supervisors suspend work on a Marcellus shale amendement to the township's oil and gas drilling ordinance. The township's Board of Supervisors and planning commission have been at work in recent months crafting an amendment to Moon's oil and gas drilling ordinance that would include provisions specific to Marcellus shale drilling. Township manager Jeanne Creese said the commission has recommended that supervisors halt work on the ordinance amendment pending the result of a combined Pennsylvania House and Senate bill that would allow drilling in all municipal zones.
