Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for the Moon, Robinson Area

The watch remains in effect until 10 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Southwestern Pennsylvania, including Allegheny County. The watch remains in effect through 10 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service, which says some storms cound be severe with damaging winds.  The chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected mainly after 5 p.m. and before midnight.  A hazardous weather outlook is also in effect this week, with frosty and potentially freezing conditions possible on Friday and Saturday nights and possibly Sunday.    Here's a look at the forecast: Be sure to upload photos or videos of any severe storm weather or storm damage.

Severe Thunderstorm Possible Wednesday Afternoon in Moon, Robinson Area

The primary threat would be from damaging wind gusts.

There is a small chance that thunderstorms may become severe Wednesday afternoon in the Moon and Robinson area, according to a hazardous outlook issued by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. "The primary threat would be from damaging wind gusts, but large hail is also possible," the statement says. National Weather Service Issues Freeze Warning for Moon, Robinson

Unprotected plants will be damaged.

The Moon and Robinson area, as well as the surrounding region, is under a freeze warning from 1 to 8 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures may dip into the 20s overnight. Meteorologists warn that unprotected outdoor plants will likely be damaged or killed, so cover the plants and bring potted plants indoors. The temperature is expected to rise throughout the week. The high on Wednesday will be around 80 degrees.

Frost Advisory In Effect Friday Morning

The National Weather Service located in Moon Township issued a frost advisory for Allegheny County from 3 to 9 a.m. Friday. Temperatures are expected to dip to 33 to 35 degrees. UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Expires for Allegheny County

The watch was in effect until 11 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Moon Township issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Allegheny County until 11 p.m. Showers and thunderstorms are likely, according to the statement. Wednesday's forecast in the Moon, Robinson area includes a slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon, and a high near 70. Warmer Temperatures On the Way After Thursday Morning's Record Low

The weekend forecast looks much warmer in the Moon and Robinson area.

Warmer temperatures are on the way after Pittsburgh experienced a record low temperature Thursday morning. The National Weather Service in Moon Township recorded an unofficial low temperature of 19 degrees at Pittsburgh International Airport at 6 a.m., which broke the record low of 20 degrees in 1954, according to the Post-Gazette. Winter Weather Advisory Until This Afternoon

A winter storm warning has been cancelled.

Locals woke up to a late blast of spring snow this morning. Fortunately, the most intense snow accumulations—about 3 to 5 inches total—are expected this morning, before diminishing. The National Weather Service in Moon Township has cancelled a winter storm warning, but a winter weather advisory remains in effect until 2 p.m. for southwestern Pennsylvania, including Allegheny, Beaver and Butler counties.  A winter weather advisory means that snow will cause travel difficulties so use caution while driving.   Here's a look ahead at the forecast:

UPDATE: Watch Upgraded to Winter Storm Warning: More Snow Predicted for Moon, Robinson Area

The snow is expected start Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire Pittsburgh region, including the Moon and Robinson areas, beginning 11 p.m. Sunday through 11 a.m. Monday. Forecasters say the snow will be most intense from midnight Sunday through the pre-dawn hours of Monday, accumulating 4-7 inches before ending by Monday afternoon.
