'Literacy Kits' Available at Coraopolis Library

The kits are designed to help young children get a head start on reading skills.

The Coraopolis Memorial Library is introducing a new series of "literacy kits" for children aged birth to 2 years old.  The kits are aimed at giving parents and caregivers a head start in teaching their children to read, according to a library announcement.  Each kit contains eight picture books, flashcards and a puppet as well as handouts for parents and caregivers. The kits are available this month and can be borrowed from the library for three week-periods with any valid Allegheny County Library System card.  Letter knowledge, narrative skills and vocabulary are a few of the skills each kit works to develop. The kits are funded through a grant from the Eden Hall Foundation. Visit the library's website for more information.
