Columnist Gab Bonesso is reminded of her Spartan spirit this week as she "rocks the suburbs".
The bad thing about being an adult and no longer attending school is … Where’s your school spirit? (It also helps that the weather and the sunsets have been awesome). It’s funny, as an adult I identify so much with my career. If someone were to ask me to describe myself in one word, I would say “artist.” (I’m a comedian and an actor. Or at least I act like a comedian). This amuses me because as a student in the Montour School District for ten-plus years, I identified completely as an athlete. I think for a lot kids who grow-up in the suburbs, …

Complaint alleges bullying, sexual harassment by fellow students
The parents of a Moon teenager said their daughter was repeatedly bullied and threatened at school, but the Moon Area School District did nothing to intervene. The family filed a federal lawsuit last week claiming that during the 2009-2010 school year, their daughter, then in 10th grade, was the target of severe sexual harassment and physical abuse at school. The parents said district officials were aware of the abuse, but "took no reasonable or effective steps" to stop it. Now, they're asking that the school district compensate them for "all injuries suffered" during the bullying. Because the girl involved in the suit is a minor, her name and the last names of her parents are unavailable. Megan Gallager, spokesperson for the Moon …

What proof is there that the abuse only occurred on school property? Did the parents actually believe Milanovich would respond to them? Do they actually believe that the district should ante up for their oblivious environment that they were living in…   more ›
