Moon Middle School Demolition Slated to Begin
The former middle school was constructed in 1954.
Moon Area School District spokeswoman Megan Edwards said demolition will begin on the former Moon Area Middle School "any day now." Crews have been at work for weeks clearing the property and preparing the vacant building for demolition. Edwards said this phase of ongoing renovations on district facilities—the razing of the former middle school and construction of a parking lot in its place—is expected to be completed before the start of the school year in August 2013. The district closed the facility in 2012 with the opening of its revamped middle school, which had served as the high school before undergoing an extensive, $45.8 million renovation.
