National Weather Service Issues Flood Advisory for Ohio River

The flood advisory is in addition to a flood watch in effect through Tuesday evening. A high wind warning for the region has been cancelled.

Commuters who use the Monongahela River Parking Wharf in Downtown Pittsburgh will need to be thinking about alternative plans. The National Weather Service in Moon Township has issued a flood advisory lasting from Tuesday evening through Thursday afternoon for the Ohio River at Pittsburgh. Rising waters are expected to impact the river in Allegheny County starting this evening, eventually flooding the 10th Street Bypass and Wharf, the weather service said.   Blame it on the widespread heavy rains expected to blanket the region over the next 36 hours, with potential rainfall amounts ranging from 2.5 inches to 4.5 inches. Significant runoff is expected to cause the Monangahela River to rise as a result, according to the weather service.  The…

Parks spent less than both of them and at least have a decent field at Moon Park to play on. Ask the former Moon Area School Board members like Limbruner and Bonham why, when they …   more ›

National Weather Service Issues Flood Warning as Storms Unleash More Rain

More than two inches of rain has fallen in past few hours.

As storms continue to roll through the area, the National Weather Service issued a flood warning for urban areas and small streams Friday night. The warning covers Allegheny, Beaver, Butler and Westmoreland counties until 2:30 a.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service also issued a flash flood watch at 9 p.m. Friday that is in effect until 4 a.m. Saturday. The flash flood watch area encompasses Allegheny, Butler and Beaver counties. A flash flood watch means conditions may develop that lead to dangerous flash flooding. “Some locations in Western Pennsylvania received between one and four inches of rainfall on Thursday,” the National Weather Service reports. “With additional rainfall expected to move into the region this evening … the …
