Incumbent Tim Murphy Defeats Larry Maggi in Congressional District 18

Murphy credits his win to knowing the needs of southwestern Pennsylvania.

U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Upper St. Clair) will serve a sixth term. Murphy declared victory around 10:15 p.m. against retired state police trooper and current Washington County Commissioner Larry Maggi, a Democrat. In his victory speech, Murphy credited the win to understanding the needs of southwestern Pennsylvania. He called his team from Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. to join him on the stage. Maggi released this statement following the defeat: "Although we did not get the results we wanted, I am incredibly proud of the campaign I ran. We stuck to the issues, offered a contrast,and educated voters on what Congress is doing on the issues that matter most to southwest Pennsylvania families. Election 2012 Results: Mustio Re-Elected in 44th House District

The Moon Township-based state legislator retains his seat for another term after defeating Democrat Mark Scappe.

Incumbent state Rep. Mark Mustio has won re-election for his seat against Democrat challenger Mark Scappe. Mustio, a former chairman of the Moon Township Board of Supervisors, retained his seat in Pennsylvania House District 44 after drawing nearly 62 percent of the vote.  “I’m just really excited,” said Mustio, who was celebrating the victory Tuesday alongside family and friends in Moon. “It’s a really nice feeling to be re-elected by your district and to be given the chance to do some more work for them," he said. Mustio was first elected to the seat in a special election in 2003. “We have two issues that are foremost,” he said of his coming term. “That would be transportation funding and pension reform. Election 2012 Results: Moon's Scappe, Mustio Seek for 44th House District

Two former Moon officials—a Republican incumbent and his Democratic challenger—seek election on Tuesday's ballot for the seat representing District 44 in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Incumbent Rep. Mark Mustio, a former chairman of the Moon Township Board of Supervisors, seeks re-election to the seat. Mustio lost his bid for the Republican nomination in the state's 37th Senate District to Mt. Lebanon software CEO D. Raja.  He faces Democrat Mark Scappe in the contest. Scappe comes to the race after an unsuccessful bid for a third term on the Moon Area School Board. I moved to TN in July, having purchased a house here the previous August. We thoroughly investigated North Carolina as well, over the last 10 years. I visited many schools.
