FBI Releases Crime Statistics For Moon, Crescent

The FBI's uniform crime statistics show no significant increases in violent crime from 2009 to 2010 in the townships.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's recently released Uniform Crime Statistics show reported violent crime incidents in Crescent and Moon townships have remained much the same from 2009 to 2010. According to the report, 11 incidents of violent crime were reported to police in Moon Township in 2010. In Crescent, 12 violent crime incidents were reported. In 2009, the FBI's statistics showed 12 violent crimes reported in Moon and 10 in Crescent. The FBI and U.S. Department of Justice publish the annual crime report yearly, which features statistics for individual communities from across the country. Moon Resident Could Be Deported from U.S.

Man indicted by federal grand jury.

A Sharon Road resident is charged with illegally returning to the United States and could face deportation. Jaime Silva-Martinez, 31, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh this week on one count of illegally re-entering the country.  U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted an investigation into his residency earlier this year. Silva-Martinez was first removed from the U.S. in April 2007 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to the indictment. He returned to the country and was again deported in March 2009.  He was discovered most recently living in Moon on May 1, 2010.  If convicted, Silva-Martinez faces a maximum two-year prison sentence and a maximum $250,000 fine.  Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul E…
