The township is gathering photographs taken prior to the 1960s of the community's Mooncrest neighborhood. The photos will be used in publication about the neighborhood's history. The emergency services provider invites community members to a capitol-campaign event at the Moon Run Fire Hall.
Robinson Township EMS will host a concert to raise funds as part of its capital campaign to replace aging equipment and revamp its Church Hill Road office. The Robinson-based classic rock band The Collision will play a show Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Moon Run Fire Hall to collect donations for the campaign. "The EMS relies primarily on fundraisers like this to get money," said Cora DeLoia, a member of the Friends of the Robinson EMS organization, which assists in fundraising for the company. "They've been in that (Church Hill Road) building for 30 years, and it needs a lot of repairs, and the funding would really help," she said. Consol Energy is expected to soon begin drilling on land surrounding Pittsburgh International Airport.
More than 150 people turned out at a Marcellus shale open house in Findlay Township Monday night, the Post-Gazette reports. The event, held at the Findlay Township Activity Center in Imperial, was planned as an informational session for residents with questions about shale extraction that is set to take place on county-owned land surrounding Pittsburgh International Airport, much of which lies in Findlay and Moon. Residents were able to ask questions about drilling's economic impact, and air concerns about its potential health hazards. Robinson Township will host a youth dance for pre-teens and teens Saturday night at the Moon Run Fire Hall on Steubenville Pike. Admission is free for the event, which is open to youths ages 11 to 14. Click here to download a permission slip or pick one up today at the Robinson Township administrative office. The dance takes place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and a DJ will be on hand. Residents with questions can contact the township at 412-788-2822.

The fire department kicks off its annual fundraiser.
The Moon Township Volunteer Fire Department on Friday will kick off its annual fish fry for the Lenten season. The fish fry, run by firefighters and volunteers, will take place from 11 a.m. to 8 pm. each Friday of the Lenten season, wrapping up March 29, at the Moon Township Public Safety Building, 1000 Beaver Grade Road. The event serves as one of the fire department's largest yearly fundraisers. All food on the menu is available for order-in or take-out. St. Malachy, Forest Grove Road, Kennedy. The health care provider will host an informational event today at the Mall at Robinson.
The Heritage Valley Health System will host its regular health fair at the Mall at Robinson from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. During the event, the health care provider will introduce its new da Vinci surgical system—a robotic system that translates a physician's hands into smaller, more precise movements during surgery. The system allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with just a few, tiny incisions, according to an announcement from Heritage Valley. The health fair will include free health screenings and information on Heritage Valley services.

Teachers in the Moon Area School District will take on the Moon Hockey Club this weekend to raise money for prom activities.
Moon Area School District faculty and students will take to the ice this weekend in a hockey game fundraiser for the high school's upcoming prom season. "Prom gets more and more expensive every year," said high school teacher Loni Ianessa. "So anything we can do to help would be great." Ianessa and troupe of teachers in the district will take on the Moon Hockey Club Saturday at the Airport Ice Arena. Proceeds from the match-up will go towards after-prom activities in the district or to individual students who may have trouble paying for the festivities.
