US Airways Merger Could Close Control Center Operations in Moon
Doug Parker, US Airways CEO, told employees the center could close as a result of the merger, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
US Airways could close its Moon Township-based flight operations center as a result of its merger with American Airlines, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The P-G reports that US Airways CEO Doug Parker told employees last week that the center—built with the help of $16.25 million in public subsidies and opened in November 2008—could close as a result of the merger, according to a transcript filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Parker, responding to a question, said the airlines won't need two centers once they consolidate and that decisions on any closings won't be made until "a couple years from now." Nothing like getting another middle finger by US Airways as they leave town. I would love to see the amount of tax dollars that have been given to this airline over the years only to have them close up and move it somewhere else.   more ›
