Men Charged with Moon Taxi Holdup to Stand Trial

Moon Police say one of the men pointed a gun at the cab driver's head, demanding money.

Two Pittsburgh men accused of robbing a cab driver at gunpoint in Moon Township's Mooncrest neighborhood are heading to trial.  Brandon Brown, 23, and Lyndard Grace, 23, each appeared Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court in connection to the incident.  Moon Police said the men were riding in a Yellow Cab taxi early on Jan. 23, when Brown pulled a silver Raven Arms revolver and pointed it at the cab driver's head, demanding money.  The cab driver unbuckled his seatbelt and ran toward Thorn Run Road, where he contacted police on his cell phone, according to a criminal complaint.  Brown and Grace were held for court following a preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges including robbery, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and receiving …

UPDATE: Masked Man Escapes after Holding up 7-Eleven

Moon Township Police are investigating the holdup reported shortly after 2:30 p.m.

This article was updated at 5:50 p.m. Staff members and children at Arena's Performing Arts Centre, Kindercare and the West Hills Rehabilitational Center were on lock down earlier today while police searched for an armed robbery suspect along Brodhead Road.  Employees of 7-Eleven on Brodhead told police just after 2:30 p.m. today that a white, masked male robbed the convenience store at gunpoint.  Witnesses said the man fled through a wooded area behind the store after committing the holdup. Moon Police Chief Leo McCarthy said in a statement that the robber has not yet been found.  Officers from Moon, Coraopolis, Crescent, Robert Morris University and Allegheny County searched the area for much of the afternoon, using a Findlay Police …

No one is hurt, although police say the suspect did display a handgun.

Northern Regional Police are investigating an armed robbery at the BP Gas station and convenience store located in the T-Bones shopping plaza on Route 910 near the I-79 interchange in Wexford. Police Chief T. Robert Amann said a white man, about 6 feet tall and wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and blue jeans, held up the convenience store between the gas pumps at 10:44 a.m. Tuesday. Amann said the man did show a handgun to store workers.  After the robbery, police said the suspect ran across route 910 and jumped into a car, which was parked at Soergel's market. The vehicle was described as a grey small vehicle, possibly a Dodge Avenger, which drove off on southbound Brandt School Road. No one was hurt. Amann would not say how much money …

Suspect Flees After Uni-Mart Robbery

The incident marks the third armed robbery at the Coraopolis Heights store in the past six months.

A man in his 20s with his shirt pulled over his face and his hand in his pocket, perhaps holding a weapon, robbed Uni-Mart late Wednesday night, marking the second robbery of the convenience store this week.  Moon Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing. A Uni-Mart employee earlier today confirmed that the store was again robbed, but declined to comment further.  Police said a tall, white male in his 20s wearing a silver T-shirt and white winter hat walked into the Coraopolis Heights Road store at 10:10 p.m. and demanded money from the store's clerk.  The employee said the man, who held his hand in his pocket during the robbery, was holding a weapon. Police did not disclose the amount of money taken from the store.  "Even…

Update: Armed Robber Holds Up Uni-Mart, Flees With Cash

Store employee says he was not injured in the attack.

Moon Police are continuing their search for the unidentified man with a gun who Thursday robbed the Uni-Mart convenience store on Coraopolis Heights Road.  A witness told police that at 9 p.m. a man wearing a black hoodie held a handgun to the head of a store employee and then fled with cash.  Police said the witness attempted to tackle the suspect, but the man ran away toward Rhema Christian Academy.  No one has been charged in the incident. Brentwood man undergoes surgery for self-inflicted wound after armed standoff with SWAT team

A Brentwood man suspected of robbing a Moon grocery store barricaded himself in his home Sunday night and slit his own throat before SWAT officers took him into custody. Moon Police said Christopher Lyons, 31, is a suspect in the holdup Sunday afternoon at Giant Eagle on University Boulevard. Police said Lyons walked into the grocery about 12:15 p.m. and presented a note to a teller at the  Citizens Bank in the store. The note said a robbery was under way, police said. Police said the teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, which contained an exploding dye pack.
