Senior Soccer Player Ends Moon Area High School Career on High Note

Antonia Grese scored the only goal in Moon Area High School's victory to capture the state championship Saturday.

Hollywood couldn’t have scripted it better for Antonia Grese. In the final game, and most important one, of her high-school soccer career, the Moon Area forward watched teammate Amanda Kachaylo pass the ball to Kallie Conte, who in turn sent it Antonia’s way near the net of opponent Archbishop Wood. “The goalie came out, and she didn't take a good angle on the ball,” Antonia said. “So I knew that if I put it on net on the other side, she wouldn’t be able to get it.” The ball crossed the line to give Moon a 1-0 lead late in the first half of the PIAA Class AA championship game Saturday at Hersheypark Arena. Moon Area Wins State Soccer Championship

The Lady Tigers capture Class AA honors with a 1-0 victory.

The Moon Area High School girls soccer team defeated Archbishop Wood, 1-0, to win the PIAA Class AA championship Satruday at Hersheypark Stadium. Senior Antonia Grese scored the goal. The Lady Tigers finish with a 24-2 overall record, one of the losses coming to Mars Area, 2-1, in the WPIAL title game. Moon beat Mercyhurst Prep, 6-1, in the PIAA semifinal, after victories over Forest Hills and Camp Hill Trinity in the state tournament.

Louisa, congratulations on once again trying to put a negative spin on a positive thing. The coach and AD had nothing to do with the girls going to AA. The state determines that by the number of girls in your school. It can change every 2 years. The girls are competing at the AA level because they are AA. However, even at the AAA level, the girls have competed in 2 state championship games. I …   more ›
