At the scene of a shocking shooting at a Newton, CT, elementary school, officials were able to reunite parents with their children with the help of a reverse 911 alert that notified parents of the shooting. Moon Township residents can sign up at this link for the community's SwiftReach911, a reverse notification system that alerts specific people or areas of an emergency in their community. SwiftReach911 was recently used to help find a man suffering from Alzheimer's in Moon Township, who wandered from his home. The only time I get alerts from the Moon reverse notification system is to tell me when garbage collection days are changed, hardly an emergency. I did not get a notification when the elderly man got lost, even though I live right next to where he was found.   more ›
