What is the primary reason you are running for this office? To bring solid business experience to a $50 million-plus enterprise that is in desperate need of a common-sense approach to financial and educational matters.

What will be your single most important priority if you get elected? To get our financial house in order. Moon and Crescent residents are facing significant tax increases that are guaranteed to hit after this election year. These increases are a direct result of the current board’s decisions as it relates to labor contracts and building projects. Had this not been an election year, I am certain the current board would have raised taxes this year. Now the goal is to minimize those increases.

What sets you apart from the other candidates? I can’t speak for the other candidates, but what I can tell you is that when I was on the board a number of years ago we lowered taxes and completed two building renovations at a fraction of the cost of the new high school.

I take a no-nonsense approach to decisions that need to be made. I won’t cozy up to building contractors or any other vendor that does business with the district. You will know where I stand on each issue, whether you agree with me or not.  I will respectfully listen to your concerns even though I may not agree with them.

What's your favorite thing about the school district? The people of Moon Township are genuinely friendly people who want what is best for their kids as well as for others. And I firmly believe that they want a school board that operates in a professional manner without [members] yelling and screaming at each other.

What is the biggest problem facing the school district? Finances as well as the need to improve student achievement.
