Moon Township's Department of Permits and Inspection is responsible for issuing building permits and ensuring that building codes are met by contractors and Moon residents. The Moon Township Department of Public Works is also located in the township building and works to maintain all township-owned buildings, roads and properties. The staff, which includes 12 full-time employees, is led by a public works administrator and a head road master.
